Goodbye...and Hello

Hi friends,

Exciting news! I've got a new site, new blog, new name! Well, my name is still Deanna, but you know what I mean. Hahaha, the other day Cash was in the shower and yells out, "Mom! Mom! Mom,mom,mom! DEANNA!!" Apparently he's learned my name. :)

So, this blog closes a chapter of photography for me and I'm starting a new one. I'll probably always keep this blog up but I won't be updating it anymore.

Mikelle||Gilroy Senior Photography

Confession: I remember this beautiful lady when she was a baby. Her brother would sit her on top of a pile of suitcases and then shove the suitcases out from under her. She would laugh--good thing for him. Mikelle has 3 other brothers and her whole family are dear friends and I love them so much.

I always encourage seniors to take a vested interest in their shoot--this time of year is so special and you only graduate from high school once. You're 18 once. Mikelle chose the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco and a random street that had a wall she had seen online...and totally fell in love with. Um, she didn't say that there was a large homeless population there. Bless her heart. ;)

Mikelle--I love you so much! I can't wait to see what God has planned for your life.

Parker::Gilroy Senior Photography

Hi everyone! Long time no talk to eh? I apologize. Sincerely. So much has happened since my last blog post (you know, the one where it had been 2 months since I blogged?). Biggest news? We're expecting kiddo #2! Yay for big brothers and outgrowing our tiny place. :)

 Speaking of twos...meet Parker! I shot his older brother 2 years ago and this year Parker is graduating from high school. Really, there was so much I loved about the shoot. The location, the lighting, the weather, the model. Guys are so easy to photograph, really. I had a lot of favorites from this session but will leave you with my two absolutes. The bottom one needs to be a poster. Really.

 

I'm working to get caught up and have lots more photos to show. Thanks for being so patient!

Zach {Morgan Hill Senior Photography}

It's not very often I get to shoot senior guys. It's also not often I get to shoot senior guys who aspire to be architects who are really comfortable in front of my camera. Meet Zach. I could have shot all day with him. He was an amazing model (and many, many thanks to Candice for assisting!!). I told Zach I would forward his photos on to Abercrombie. Or Hollister. Or both. As long as he told them he had a designated photographer.

What?

I dream big. ;)

Jordan {Senior Session}

Senior session are one of my favorite kinds of sessions to do and I don't very often get to shoot guys. So, I was thrilled to get the chance to shoot Jordan's senior photos. We got some great shots at the ranch (I luurve shooting here!) which is an amazing location. I got to shoot Emily's senior session here and was so happy to go back.

Jordan happily showed off his mad basketball moves, modeled like a pro and donned all his gear for airsoft shooting for the camera. Airsofting? Airsoft gunning? Air soft? Why, yes, the air is soft. I will now retreat to the hole I currently live in.

The light was amazing and fall showed all her true colors and beauty. Jordan, congratulations on your senior year! I can't wait to see where your future takes you!!

This guy has such a handsome side profile and I am loving the orchard trees here.

CLASS OF 2011

I love senior sessions. I always have. Which is why I'm so happy to be doing this promotion. If you are a senior graduating in the spring of 2011, then its already time to start thinking about your senior photos. Doing your photos outside of the typical studio style is the definitely the way to go. Your photos are sure to reflect your style and show who you really are. Sarah::Class of 2010

I love San Juan Bautista. All the nooks, crannies, the mission, downtown--I think I may have to move. Come to think of it, I did see an apartment there for rent...yes, I think I've definitely made up my mind to move. I'll let you know how that goes. :)

I was thrilled when Sarah chose to do her senior portraits in San Juan. Isn't she the cutest? I wish I was tall. Sarah is one of Emily's best friends and I'm incredibly grateful for the referral. Thank you Emily! And as nervous as Sarah was to do the shoot, I think she rocked it. Better than I did anyhow--I was giving her posing ideas and when I went to do a "modest squat" I totally fell backwards falling off the curb and landing on the ground. I'm afraid I may have flashed more than was intended...so much for the modesty end of things. My ego decided to check out at that point and only returned this morning.

Sarah~you were fabulous and it was so nice to meet you. Good luck in college, your future missions trips and your graduating year!

Emily::Gilroy Senior Photographer

She plays piano, sings, happily blows on her harmonica and plans on studying music in college. To top all that--she's beautiful. Inside and out. I had such a wonderful time doing Emily's senior photos. I had met her family once before when I did Hannah's senior photos and got such a great impression. Well, yesterday my impression was sealed--Emily and her whole family are as nice as they seem.

Emily's family owns a ranch that has been in their family for generations and it's AWESOME. As in can-I-go-back-tomorrow-and-the-day-after-and-the-day-after-please awesome. The ranch is complete with an orchard, barn, vintage cars, tractors and random ovens and sinks to boot. Loved it and probably could have shot all day. As it is I have tons of photos to go through from this session so it's probably a good thing we finished when we did.

Emily~it was fabulous to meet you! Best wishes in your future studies and congratulations on senior year! Hugs!

Nicole::Gilroy Senior Photographer

She's stunning. Truly stunning. And I was flattered that they asked me to take her photos. The light was perfect in San Juan and we had a great time. Nicole is so easy to take photos of and after the first round of edits I had SO many to choose from. And there are still more than what is below, but these are my absolute faves! Nicole came with a myriad of outfits, gloves, shoes, and hats. All of which were fabulous! I get so happy when my clients get creative with their outfits and bring props.
